Reverse The Signs of Aging

antiage Canada

The best wrinkle is the one you never get.

If I've said it once, I've said in many times, It's never too early to start your anti-aging, anti-wrinkle skin care regimen. By starting today, you can slow down the signs of aging skin and even reverse many of the signs of aging such as sun damage!

Here's a few tips on what you can do to help reverse and slow down the signs of aging.

#1: Practice Sun Protection Every Day

Wearing sunscreen is not just for summer days or to protect you at the beach.

The sun's harmful UVA and UVB Rays attack your skin during everyday activities, such as walking the dog, or watching your kid's soccer game...at any time of the year! See my post on How the Sun See's You for proof!

The single most important anti-aging thing you can do for your skin is to apply a high SPF sunscreen daily.

One of my favorites is Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Triple Defense TreatmentIt's a moisturizing treatment with broad spectrum SPF 30 protection.

Skincare Beauty Blog

It contains a clinically proven concentration of powerful peptides to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and visibly firm skin. It  provides effective broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and visibly decelerates the signs of photoaging that appear over time.

#2: Use an anti-wrinkle cream that's right for your skin type

Many anti-age creams offer over night success, and a very costly rate. Ensure that any anti-age cream you buy has been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles and sign of aging.

All of Rodan + Fields products have been clinically proven, and have different regimens for all skin types.

Here's a great tool to use when determining what regimen you should use for your skin type. It's free...give it a try.

 Skincare Solutions Tool

Starting an effective anti-wrinkle plan isn't complicated, however skincare is like trying to lose weight. If you only eat healthy and go to the gym occassionally, you likely won't see results. Skincare is the same, use sunscreen everyday, and be diligent with you skincare regimen!!

Follow through on these simple steps, and you should start to see brighter, younger-looking skin in a few weeks.

Rodan + Fields Products will be available in Canada in a few short weeks. Stay tuned for details.Want more details check out my pre-launch site by clicking the photo below:

4 things you might not know about sun protection

beauty
When it comes to sunscreen, it's not about the SPF, it's all about how often you apply it.
While enjoying the outdoors is a must, so is protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays all year round.

Most of us think if we slather on the sunscreen – the higher the SPF the better – that we are adequately protected from harmful UVA and UVB rays. But really, that’s only half true.

1. Higher isn't necessarily better

For babies and small children, it’s especially important to apply sunscreen on them. The brands that are geared towards kids are usually SPF 60 or higher. But while that number is high, it’s not necessarily better than an SPF 30, especially if you are only applying the SPF 60 once.

The important thing about wearing sunscreen is the frequency with which you apply it. While SPF 15 is the lowest you should use, it, and any other SPF number sunscreen you use, should be applied at least each hour you are outdoors.

wrinkles
2. Shade only does so much

Umbrellas and shade may offer protection from the sun’s heat, but they do not protect you from UV rays. Sun damage can easily occur in the shade where the SPF protection is only five to seven. If you are at the beach or near water, UV rays can bounce off sand and water and reach you under your umbrella, which makes reapplying your sunscreen even when under any type of shade even more important.

3. Waterproof protection
While there are sunscreens that claim to be waterproof, there is actually no such thing. Between sweating and swimming, these sunscreens only last a maximum of 80 minutes safely, 40 if you are swimming. Despite the “all-day” or waterproof label, you still need to reapply sunscreen every one to two hours.

beauty

4. Medications and the sun

If you are on birth-control, antihistamines or other medications, you could be more sensitive to the sun, making you a prime target for sunburn, despite applying sunscreen. Ask your doctor about any medications you are taking to find out if any of them are making you sun sensitive.

The next time you step outside, remember that applying and re-applying sunscreen is your best line of defence against UV rays, no matter the season!

Harvard Business School Says Rodan + Fields is a Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

work from home

In January 2012, Rodan + Fields Chairman and President were invited to the Harvard Business School to be participate in a case study focusing on Rodan + Fields Dermatologists, and their direct selling model.

I first heard of Rodan + Fields about 3 years ago when I was visiting family in Boston. I had never heard of Dr. Katie Rodan or Dr. Kathy Fields. At the time I had no idea that they were the doctor's who created the hugely successful acne regimen Proactiv, or the Dr.'s who created the Rodan + Fields skincare line I had just fallen in love with.

beauty
I knew that Rodan + Fields skincare was going to be a regular part of my skincare regimen, but had no idea that soon it would become my business as well. Confession time: I have always been very skeptical about direct selling. I simply assumed it was a scam, and people would get suckered into a business where they were promised they would make millions and end up losing money. So I decided to look into the company's business model and do some research on my own.

During my research I discovered Rodan + Fields is far from a scam and truly is a legitimate business. I came across the Harvard Business Review Case study which profiled Rodan + Field dermatologists and their direct selling model. After reading the business case, I knew I needed to take the leap of faith and try something new with Rodan + Fields or I would regret it for the rest of my life.

Before I get into the results on the case study, let me give you a little history on Rodan + Fields.

Rodan + Fields originally started selling their skincare regimens in high end department stores, like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales between 2002 and 2007.

business opportunity

Rodan + Fields was actually ranked #1 at Nordstrom when the Doctor's decided to break free from the department stores and enter into direct sales.

Here are the results from the information found in the Harvard Business School and Network Marketing report:

In order for a company to be successful in the Direct Selling Market, it needs to be a "ground floor" opportunity.

  • Harvard Business School suggests that in order for the opportunity to qualify as "ground floor" the number of existing active distributors should be less than ½ of 1% of the population (300 million in the united states) in the country where this network marketing company exists.
  • In the United States this figure is equal to 1.5 million people
  • Harvard Business School also stated that if there were less than 500,000 people involved, you would be on the cutting edge of a great opportunity.
  • If the company has less than 100,000 distributors, Harvard Business School considers it to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
  • Rodan + Fields currently only has 15,000 distributors in the US

What does this mean for the Canadian Market?

skincare tips

Rodan + Fields is expanding into Canada in fall 2014.

Based on the Harvard Business School’s report becoming one of the first Independent consultant in Canada is truly a “Once in a lifetime opportunity!”

Based on the reports finding:
  • In order for the opportunity to qualify as "ground floor" the number of existing active distributors should be less than ½ of 1% of the population.
  • The current Canadian Population is approximately 35 million. Based on this figure that would mean if Canada had 175 000 consultants Rodan + Fields would be considered “Ground Floor
  • Harvard Business School also stated that if there were less than 500,000 people involved, it would be on the cutting edge of a great opportunity.
  • As stated above based on numbers if Rodan + Fields had even 175 000 consultants in Canada it would be considered “Ground Breaking”.
  • If the company has less than 100,000 distributors, Harvard Business School considers it to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
  • Rodan + Fields are launching into Canada in January 2014 – which means there are currently NO Canadian distributors at this time.
That means this truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Canadian market!!!

Ask yourself this question...if you had a chance to go back in time and buy stock in Proactiv before it became a multi-billion dollar brand...would you?
If your answer is "yes" let's connect so you too can partner with the same doctors who are NOW doing for the anti-age market what they did for the acne market!

Go "naked" when you excercise

Doing any physical activity increases your circulation, delivers vital nutrients to your skin, reduces stress and slows the aging process....so keep it up!
But before you hit the gym, or the great outdoors...“go naked.”
Wearing makeup during a workout leaves you with a greater risk for clogged pores, blackheads and breakouts.

Skincare

Before your morning workout cleanse your face, but avoid any heavy products that will smear and sweat off. If you’re working out after a day of wearing makeup and can’t wash your face beforehand, wipe your face with a makeup-removing cloth.
To help avoid body acne, stick to workout gear that wicks moisture away from the body—lightweight, loose-fitting cotton or microfiber—and make sure any athletic gear you’re using fits properly.

If you’re a surfer, that means wearing a wetsuit that’s not too constricting, especially under the arms.

If you’re a cyclist, make sure the chinstrap on your helmet isn’t so tight that it rubs against your skin, triggering a pimple flare.

And never, ever stew in your own sweat. That’s how bacteria thrives and breakouts can occur. As soon as you’ve finished working out, head to the shower and follow with your normal skincare routine.
No matter what your calorie-burning nirvana is, “going naked” while you exercise is the best path to keeping your skin in great shape.

Stop Adding "Just A" in Front of Stay-At-Home Mom

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I hear my friends who are stay at home moms say they are "Just a stay at home mom." Why do some stay at home mom's (or dad's) say "Just a…" in front??

This has bothered my for quite sometime. I am a mom of a wonderful 11 year old boy who is my world. If I could afford to stay at home with him I would have chosen to do so, however, given my sitation at the time as a single mom, it wasn't in the cards for me. So I reluctantly ventured back into the corporate world after my year long Maternity leave. (we get one year meternity leave in Canada!)

Several of my friends opted to stay at home with their children for various reasons such as daycare was too expensive, they couldn't bare to have someone else look after their kids, they had no desire to go back to the corporate world and wanted to focus on raising their kids…and so on. Whatever their reasoning it was a choice they happily made and felt it was the best thing for their family. Not one of my friends who is a stay at home mom has regretted leaving the corporate world to focus on their family…and I find such beauty in that!

My girlfriends and I recently got together for a girls night dinner and I asked the question "Why do you say "just a" in front of stay at home mom?" Here were some of their responses:
  • Corporate Mom's feel value from what they do - they get paid to do a job and get recongnised by peers for their work.
  • Corporate Moms don't have to ask their spouses for money or have an allowance. You can go an buy something for yourself without checking with your spouse first. You have your own money..or atleast feel like it's your won little nest.
  • Corporate Moms get to talk about business rather than poop, snacks, laundry, doctor appointments, and naps
  • Corporate Moms have something other than their kids and spouse to focus on - their whole world isn't about everyone else. It would be nice to have something of my own that I have accomplished that isn't about the family.
Needless to say, some of these reasons truly broke my heart. (You may not feel this way. These are only the perspectives of a few of my stay-at-home mom friends - not all stay-at-home moms feel this way). It was the last point that really stuck with me though.

What my friends don't know is that I long to be a stay at home mom. Your entire family depends on you to ensure the house functions properly and without you..let's be honest, the entire system would fail. So in my eyes…Stay at home moms, are really the CEO of the family and are in charge of ensuring everything runs smoothly. So when I say, Stay at home moms have the most important job…I truly mean that!
But none the less their feelings are valid to them. My son is now 11, and I feel like I have missed out on so much. Yes, I love my job, but it's not more important that being there for my son in the moments that really count. And being a stay at home mom allows for that…but how can I do this?

For the past year I have been scowering the internet for jobs where I could work from home…let me tell you, there are a ton of scams, or false advertising. so if you are doing the same, do your due diligence, and anything that promises you XX amount of dollars a week is likely not real.

I have settled on Rodan + Fields - an antiage skincare line that is made by the same doctors who created Proactiv, so I know it's a reputible company. Fortunately I will be one of the first in Canada to represent this skincare line, so that's a huge advantage in being one of the first.

I have invited a few of my Stay-at-home moms to join my team…we now have 5 moms who have joined. Together I know we will be sucessful in growing out business by only workin a few hours a week, while still being able to focus on what we do best being Moms! All 5 moms have said they can't wait to have something of their own that they accomplished that isn't just about the family….but will benefit the family too.

If this post resignated with you, and you have similar feeling as my friends let's connect and help you to create something of your own, that will help benefit you family! To be successful you truly only need 5- 10 hours a week, and you can do most of it over the internet.

To all the stay at home moms…you are much more than "Just a"…much, much more. Keep up the great work, you are doing an awesome job and your family is luckt to have you leading the way!
